Indian Energy Distribution Market to go SAAS model
Bangalore, 27 April 2006:

Enzen Global Solutions of India has entered into a joint venture with CLOSED GAP, a company that empowers power distribution companies worldwide with an efficient, low-priced back office information system to launch customer care and billing solutions based on SAAS concept. The software will act as a service model in the utility sector

Enzen and CLOSED GAP will build, maintain and host the solution. The integrated suite will be aided by GIS solutions. Enzen will host this solution by identifying partners to integrate and host the solutions making it easy for Energy distribution agencies. The customer care and billing solutions will have a smart code, Bar Code with centralized GIS mapping solutions. The software is architected in a loosely connected way, via web services to interface with accounting / financial systems, handheld terminals for data collection and billing and cash collection systems.

The main advantage of linking with CLOSED GAP is that it offers the product “Not as Software but as a Service. Enzen’s association and CLOSED GAP’s innovation is driven by the ambition to achieve the goal of providing state-of-art, energy back-end solutions at a small cost. The CLOSED GAP JV gives Enzen’s clients the freedom to focus on their core competencies and singularly pursue the goal of ‘distributing energy to a growing population.” Apart from an Internet connection and a simple PC there is no need for any additional investment and the customers are required to pay for usage only.

Considering the fact that electricity is considered a key driver for the targeted 8 to 10% economic growth of India, it becomes dire not just to concentrate on power generation but also on effective distribution and thereby proper management of energy.

Commenting on the JV, Mr. Satheesh Kumar, CEO -Enzen Global said “The Energy for All Program (2012) initiative is highly inspiring. Enzen is closely working with service providers in the Energy space to understand the ground realities. We are also associating with the best products and learning from them. Our aim is to introduce the best industry practices into the Indian business/ technology space and improve efficiencies. The Closed Gap JV will relieve power distribution companies of routine management hassles and will help them focus on illuminating more households/ business enterprises in the backward areas.”

In October last, Closed Gap accompanied Mr. Brinkhorst, Vice Prime Minister of The Netherlands, on an eight-day business mission to India. What followed was a host of meaningful meetings in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi with the Ministry of Power (MoP), Central Electricity Commission (CEC), Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), Distribution Companies (Discoms) and many other organisations from the energy sector. Valuable lessons were learnt and ideas developed.

Pursuant to this the Indian Government moved ahead and implemented Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme (APDRP) and has introduced the “Energy for All Program (2012)”. This in short means - to reduce costs, improve revenues and cash flow, while rolling out the availability of electricity to hundreds of millions of people and double/triple its energy generation capacity. This complex environment needs complex, yet easy to use solutions that enable power distribution companies to meet their goals.

Enzen Global and Closed Gap JV is all geared up to enter 125 million house holds to provide the unique and first of its kind innovative software and service model. A local presence in India is a logical step in bettering customer service and CLOSED GAP association with Enzen Global is driven by the fact that both companies are active in the utility sector , are IT driven, have years of experience in these areas and both are aware of the requirements of this sector.
